If you believe this then keep reading. Because what LIGHTS me up is helping people Find their BOLD to make things happen!
Last week I had a conversation with a client about what coaching is.
Coaching isn’t just being a cheerleader or telling people to do something.
Most people know WHAT they need to do.
Coaching is helping people figure out WHY they aren’t doing the WHAT. And then giving them the inspiration, the TOOLS, and the belief in themselves that they can! Plus support along the journey.
That’s what I do.
If everyone just needed to be told to do it then we all be would be skinny, successful, happy, and wealthy because someone told us what to do right?
This isn’t reality.
Take my client- I’ll just say “Ben” for privacy (and BTW yes I no longer only coach women, but any business leader or entrepreneur). Ben came to me and said he didn’t like the way things in his personal and professional life were going. He didn’t feel he was a good decision maker and questioned himself at the end of every day. He really questioned his own input in team meetingsnwhich was causing him to hold back and not share valuable information and expertise.
Can you relate to this?
Ben knew what he needed to do: Stop questioning himself and start speaking up with confidence. Where he needed help was figuring out WHY he wasn’t doing this.
After working with Ben, we uncovered WHY he was questioning himself. We uncovered that he had lost sight of his own value. He was so busy comparing himself to other team members that he no longer valued his own thoughts or gave himself credit for his own knowledge. Until he uncovered his own patterns of belief he couldn’t just make himself start speaking up more frequently or with more confidence.
I am proud to report that Ben had such a change in confidence at work that he began speaking up with VALUABLE input in meetings. His boss noticed and asked him what he had been doing to make these changes. WOW, right??
Ben changed his own inner influence and has belief that when he speaks up he has value to add. He doesn’t question his decisions at work which has led to more confidence, as well as, more input. The result, his boss, clients, and team have all noticed.
How did Ben do this you might ask? Well, there isn’t enough room in this email to cover everything, but I will share with you one of the daily habits Ben implemented in his life.
He replaced his inner voice of “what if I had DONE this or what if I had SAID that” (you know this voice right? We all do!)
With, “I did X… today and it was great because…”
This may sound so simple, but when you implement this daily habit you will start to recognize your own value. Do you know how important this is for you? Recognizing your own value is one of THE most important steps in making things happen.
What would more confidence in your daily decisions whether personal or professional do for you?
I want you THINK ABOUT.. What decisions you question every day?
Grab yourself a sticky note and write :
Today I (fill in the blank with an action) and it was great because (fill in the blank with a result)
Start seeing your own value that you add in your actions or in your words daily. And watch what happens to your confidence in your decisions. Every day you overlook your awesomeness – until you are intentional with your thoughts and actions. And this is ALL directly related to your ability to make things happen!
Are you ready to “Make Things Happen”?
