Be honest:
Do you start something new, get excited, then find yourself losing interest and never finishing?
Do you lose interest when you try to change an old habit?
Do you try to be positive, then let life’s negatives get in your way?
Do you lose confidence in yourself in one area, then find it spiraling into so many other areas of your life?
Do you feel frustrated and even depressed thinking this only happens to you?
I have good news for you. This is normal human behavior. And it is not just happening to you.
There is actually a name for what is happening. It’s called DECEPTION.
Every time you change your mind, your direction, or feel like you need to quit, you have hit DECEPTION. Did you know when you hit Deception you are right at the fork in the road for actually making a really awesome change? What you do next at the Deception point is the deciding factor.
So now that you know it’s a real thing, and not just you, what can you do about it?
1. Change your mindset
Now that you know Deception is an actual thing, change your mindset. Be ready for it instead of surprised and frustrated when it hits. Have a mindset that when it hits, you will hit back! Have a plan and be ready to fight it off instead of giving in to it.
2. Envision Your vision
What is your goal? Now IMAGINE it! Your greatest tool and unused part of your brain is your imagination. Did you know if you aren’t intentional with what you imagine, your brain takes from what it knows? It does not know the difference. This is one of the hardest habits to create. But you can do it. Truly imagine your success. What does it look like, feel like, and focus on that creative imagination. Remember that “what you focus on, you find” so give your brain a vision of success to focus on!
3.Write out Gratitude
It’s amazing how easy it is to focus on the negative. We have to take time to focus on what we are grateful for instead. Write out 3 things daily that you are grateful for. It is incredible how it opens up your heart and the door to acceptance of yourself. It clears negativity so you can be grateful for what is around you. This simple act changes the lens we look through daily.
4. Mini goals matter.
Set smaller goals leading to the larger one. Be sure to acknowledge each success along the way! How many of us do this? We wait until we have accomplished X to be proud of ourselves. Wait, this means to acknowledge success we have to reach a huge goal? It must take one tough cookie to continue on the journey without acknowledging any success until the BIG DOG goal has been met. When you think of it this way, isn’t it so much easier to see why you quit? Of course! What have you done this week that you can be proud of?
5. Take time to truly and genuinely appreciate yourself! (And the YOU that is on the journey.)
If we are masters at anything it is the art of being hard on ourselves. We are perfect at finding our flaws and what we have done wrong. What we have not achieved. It is the way our brain works. So TODAY take time to write down 5 things that are amazing about you. And read them every day for 30 days. Every day.
I want you to picture for just a moment how your life and/ or business would change with a few simple changes in conquering Deception instead of giving into it.
